l Once Mrs. Henderson is herself caught out. On p. 345, n. 2, she equates a descending tetrachord in sol fa with the ascending Greek series. On pp. 358–9 either the vocal notation rows in Ex. 309 should number downwards, or else read on p. 359 ‘so that row no. 1 is the diatonic note-series’. In Ex. 311 the notes of the conventional transcription of the first Delphic hymn should have flat signs on notes a and e.

2 Cf. Herod, vii. 6; Athen. 615 a. The Athenaeus reference on p. 349, n. 1 should be 624 c–625 e.

3 A. A. Howard's article in H.S.C.P. iv (1893) should be added to the bibliography.
