page 105 note 1 We have not found this work mentioned by Mr. Newman. A complete list of the authorities consulted by him would have been very serviceable. We have found two allusions to Oneken's Staatslehre des Aristoteles, but this book is not referred to in some places where we might have expected it, (e.g. with regard to the ‘Laeonizing’ party at Athens or in connexion with the discussion on Slavery). Are we to conclude that Mr. Newman has not found it specially useful?
